Socialist Presidential Campaign Condemns Biden’s Inaction on Inflation, Call for National Price Freeze

Socialist presidential candidate Claudia De la Cruz and her running mate Karina Garcia reacted with outrage at the shameful inability of the Biden administration to control inflation and preserve the ability of working families to afford the bare necessities of life. The new official data released today found that inflation accelerated over the last month, in contrast to the false narrative that “Bidenomics” has turned the tide in the cost of living crisis and is gradually bringing inflation down to normal levels.

“The working class is suffering deeply because of the inflation crisis, and the culprit is corporate greed,” De la Cruz stated, “People can’t afford to buy gas, we can’t afford to buy groceries, the cost of rent is skyrocketing. The idea that this is the result of workers being paid too much is a lie. Corporate executives are the ones deciding to hike prices in order to bring in record profits.” De la Cruz continued: “It’s pathetic that Joe Biden’s campaign is trying to spin ‘Bidenomics’ as a success story. We need real action – we need a nationwide freeze on the price of all essential goods.”

Karina Garcia noted that, “The increase in inflation is especially devastating news coming on the heels of data showing that the rate of child poverty in the United States has more than doubled. It was hard enough for working class parents to afford the basics before the inflation crisis, but now it has become completely impossible for so many.” Garcia added that, “It tells you everything you need to know about capitalism that in the richest country on the planet one in eight children live beneath even the ridiculously low official poverty line.”
