We need a socialist response to hurricanes!

Volunteers have been on the ground with hurricane relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in NC. The team is also looking to continue efforts for Hurricane Milton.

Along with relief, we also put forward the following demands:

1. Divert money being used to fund Israel, Ukraine, and the war machine to instead fund a massive rescue and relief operation.

2. Fully compensate all victims: End the insurance company run-around; whether wind, rain or something else is responsible, everyone whose homes were damaged or destroyed should be made whole. Compensate workers for lost wages, including wages lost before the storm due to evacuations.

3. Give Citizens Property Insurance Corp policies to all residents of affected areas regardless of whether they are already enrolled. If Citizens - the state-run Florida insurance company - runs out of money, tax the rich instead of placing a surcharge on policy holders. Fully fund the National Flood Insurance Program by raising the program's borrowing cap.

4. Conduct rescue efforts to ensure the safety of all prisoners in affected areas, who have outrageously not been evacuated from the hurricane zone.
