Presidential candidate Claudia De la Cruz on Biden’s withdrawal: “Abandon the Democrats – Vote Socialist!”
Reacting to the news that Joe Biden was withdrawing from the presidential race, socialist presidential candidate Claudia De la Cruz remarked, “Biden is a life-long servant of the corporate elite and is responsible for genocide in Gaza. We are happy to see him go, but remain just as committed to fighting against the ruling class agenda of the Democratic Party no matter who they nominate as their candidate. Kamala Harris has spent her career in service of mass incarceration, Wall Street and the war machine. She is no alternative – the real alternative is to abandon the Democrats and vote socialist!”
Vice-Presidential candidate Karina Garcia said, “Kamala Harris supported mass incarceration policies as a prosecutor in California. One of her main responsibilities in the Biden administration has been to oversee the brutal crackdown against refugees seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border. And she is complicit in the Biden administration’s support for the genocide in Gaza. She does not at all represent something fundamentally different from Biden.”
Claudia De la Cruz said that, “Donald Trump is a grave threat to the rights of the vast majority of people in this country. But the Democrats are completely incapable of leading the fight to stop Trump and the far right. We can unite the majority of people in this country around a program demanding healthcare, education, housing and good jobs as basic rights while rejecting all forms of hate and bigotry as well as the war machine. The best way to fight back against Trump is to send a message by voting socialist.”
The campaign expects to be on the ballot in at least 22 states. Together, the electoral college votes of these states would constitute a majority, giving the campaign a potential path to victory. Many of the states where Claudia and Karina will be on the ballot are expected to be crucial to the overall outcome of the election. These include Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio, Virginia and Minnesota. In these most-watched states, the Vote Socialist campaign will be urging people to break with the two party system and reject both Biden and Trump. Over 7,000 volunteers are working with the campaign nationwide to aggressively get its message out and conduct this massive petitioning effort.
